Our Story

Built by Black Belts. Raised on the Mat.

LVLUP Martial Arts was founded by Masters Mike and Richelle Moh — two 6th Degree Black Belts who met as kids through taekwondo and never stopped training.

A Family Built on Martial Arts

Mike and Richelle both found taekwondo as kids — and it changed the course of their lives. The mat gave them structure when they needed it, confidence when they doubted themselves, and a sense of purpose that shaped everything that followed. It also gave them each other. They met through martial arts, trained side by side, pushed each other to compete at the highest levels, and somewhere along the way, fell in love.

Both are 6th Degree Black Belts and ATA World Champions. But more than the titles, martial arts gave them a shared language — discipline, respect, resilience — that became the foundation of their relationship and eventually their family.

When they founded LVLUP Martial Arts, it wasn't just about opening a business. It was about recreating the kind of community that had meant so much to them growing up — a place where people walk in as strangers and leave as family, where hard work is celebrated, and where every student knows someone believes in them.

Their three kids have grown up on the mat, training alongside their parents from the time they could walk. All three are black belts, junior instructors, and competitors who have earned their own titles. The Moh household doesn't just talk about martial arts values — they live them every single day. It's in their DNA.

What started with that belief — that martial arts changes lives — has grown into a community of over 500 families across 3 locations in the Madison area. Every one of those families is proof that Mike and Richelle were right. When you pour everything you have into people, they rise.

From the Big Screen to the Mat

A Career in Film & Stunt Work

Before LVLUP, Mike built a career in Hollywood — from the Jackie Chan Stunt Team to over 30 productions. His feature film credits include Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (as Bruce Lee, opposite Brad Pitt), Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist, Ghosted, and Blade of the 47 Ronin.

That career taught Mike something he brings back to the mat every day: the relentless pursuit of precision and excellence, the ability to perform under pressure, and the discipline to show up fully — no matter the stage.

But ask Mike what he's most proud of, and he won't mention Hollywood. He'll tell you about the kids who found their confidence on the mat — and the families who found their community at LVLUP.

More Than Kicks and Forms

At LVLUP, martial arts isn't just about kicks and forms. It's about building character, resilience, and confidence that transfers to every area of life — school, work, relationships, and beyond.

We don't just train athletes. We develop leaders. Every class, every belt, every challenge is an opportunity to grow — not just as a martial artist, but as a person. That's the LVLUP difference.

LVLUP Martial Arts was built in Madison, and we take pride in giving back to the community that supports us. From partnering with United Way of Dane County to supporting local schools, fundraisers, and youth organizations, we believe that making a difference starts right here at home.
